Was it just me, or is there more than a trace of “ho hum” about this report? I know it was trumpeted all over the media, and I suppose it is in its way a big deal, at least until the next ‘definitive’ report comes out. But almost everyone I’ve spoken to about it thinks there’s nothing really new in it. Unless, of course, you’re a politician who’s been hiding behind a smoke screen of uncertainty to postpone actually doing something.

Only the greater certainty of the stats it seems…. and the fact that ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ has been released since the last IPCC report in 2001, so more Americans are aware of CC now. We ain’t going to see action until their citizens are on board after all.

So, I think while the IPCC report hasn’t fundamentally changed (and how could it when the message was already there in its last report) what has is the levels of awareness of CC in the last 12 months. So, in that sense the report has landed into quite a different climate 🙂 .
